sql server 2005 - Restore failed for Server

Today I was trying to restore a backup of sql 2005 production system on to my local system I came across this error.

The backup set holds a backup of a database other than the existing 'SCR_2p0' database.
RESTORE DATABASE is terminating abnormally. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 3154)

Strange, because the same backup file successfully got restored on desktop but failed on laptop, both the systems are running the same version of sql server 2005.

I came across a post on net http://weblogs.asp.net/plip/archive/2006/10/26/SQL-Server-2005-Backups.aspx, which suggested to use restore database scr_2p0 from disk = 'C:\Santhosh\DBBackup\SCR\Version2.0\SCR_2p0.BAK' with replace

it worked like a gem, but my question still remains unanswered why it failed when I tried it through management studio?
